A few months ago some friends invited us to go shooting with them. I enjoyed myself so much more than I thought I would. We not only enjoyed it, but we felt like it could be very beneficial in keeping our family safe.
After a couple of scary incidents we decided to get a handgun for each of us. We have both also applied for CCWs (to carry a concealed weapon.)
I'm proud to say that I've gotten to be a pretty good shot -- as has Jim. We enjoy going out to the range to practice. It's become a great new hobby for both of us.

You guys ROCK!! I want to get my concealed weapons license so bad. And we have not been shooting in forever. We need to start going when we can. I love the pic of you shooting. You look so tuff!
Isn't shooting so much fun? I haven't gone to a shooting range for years. Good luck on getting your CW license. You are one tough mama!
That is quite the interesting choice of hobby! I'm sure you're being responsible with all those precious little ones around. Since I grew up in a house that had guns around (and never locked up) I'll direct you to my friends blog for an example of why to be vigelent with gun safety.

And I always ask if there are guns in the home of friends and if they're properly locked up. You'd be surprised how many people don't know where they keep their gun! A friend of mine had her son recently walk out of his grandparents house with a hand gun. Sometimes they just don't get it yet. Happy Hunting! :)
Whoa! You look very official with that gun. Watch out for mama bear!
Cool! I wanna do that!!
You are brave, guns scare me. Although I am getting close to letting Eric have one and get his permit. They just make me nervous.
We haven't done this yet!! Maybe once our house projects and the baby comes we'll have a chance to get out there and shoot away! I used to be pretty good, but it's been awhile! :)
I love shooting! As soon as Ian and I are married we are going to get my Idaho/Utah permit. He has a bunch of guns and I have been around them my whole life. I don't usually carry one, mostly because it is hard to defend against, but it is always smart to know how to use and care for one.
